AKC Home Manners Program

Registration is closed for this event
According to Michigan State University research; Youth who have a dog in their household benefit from increased self-esteem, when a pet shows unconditional love, it boosts a child's self-esteem. Being responsible also develops self-esteem in young children. Having a dog also often requires a gentle touch and learning about boundaries. This will develop respect for others in young children which is a difficult skill to learn at a young age. During this class youth will learn how to train their dogs in their home by attending zoom meetings to go over items such as allowing the owner to Handel/ grooming, sit, down, stay, come, "Go to place", house training ( for puppies), building dog/owner relationship, walking on a leash outside, food manners, an appropriate response to doorbells/ knocking, and set up an exercise routine for the dog. Virtual Home Manners (VHM) is the answer when you want to train your dog at home. When you get a puppy or new adult dog, Virtual Home Manners can get you started on practical skills before you attend a training class. This program is Wednesdays December 2nd - January 13th (no program Wednesday, December 23rd).
